Pangaia

We are extremely proud of the unique concept of Pangaia - the home away from home and social hub for students at Volda University College. Pangaia is both a physical meeting place, a student support office, an office organising social events, and a student welfare initiative for both international and local students.

Pangaia opened on February 13th 2006 and was a success from the start. Pangaia, meaning "one world",  is a social meeting point on the ground floor of the main building on the VUC campus, a place where you can drop in to relax, make new friends, get a cup of coffee and get help fom the student trainees working for the International Office.

Events and Social Activities

Pangaia also arranges many cultural events, movie nights, Christmas and Easter workshops, dance shows, hiking trips etc. Many of the events are held at the student house Rokken

The International Office at Volda University College, in cooperation with Pangaia and students from the Student Parliament, will each semester arrange various activities for international and local students.

At the beginning of each semester Pangaia organises a welcome orientation for the international students, in addition to the buddy week. At Christmas and Easter Pangaia focuses on traditional activities and workshops, where international students can learn about Norwegian traditions, while local students learn about international traditions. It is a core principle of Pangaia that all activities are free of charge and open for all students.
