Lars Ove serves as Program Director and Associate Professor, specializing in undergraduate instruction across several core disciplines: ensemble interaction, improvisation, aural skills/theory, studio production, music technology, and composition/arrangement.

Bio

Lars Ove Stene Fossheim (b. 1986) is a performing guitarist and researcher. He earned both his Bachelor and Master`s degree in Performing Arts - Music Studies at the NTNU Department of Music. Since 2009, he has toured extensively, contributing to over a dozen album releases spanning a diverse range of contemporary genres.

As a performer, Fossheim is a prominent figure in ensembles such as Broen, Skadedyr, Snøskred, and Your Headlights Are On. His creative portfolio includes multiple collaborations with the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra and commissioned works for festivals and projects, including JazzFest Trondheim (2022), MetaMorf (2022), and YKS Ung – Villskap (2026).

His practice-led research and performance history include collaborations with composers such as:

  • Experimental & Contemporary: Pauline Oliveros, Jennifer Walshe, Rhys Chatham, Christina Kubisch and Christian Wolff.

  • Nordic Avant-Garde: Anja Lauvdal, Lene Grenager, Mats Gustafsson and Jan Martin Smørda.

Fossheim has held a central role in the experimental music community in Trondheim. His work in artistic curation and administration includes the project  In Between Norway & Poland (2021) and interdisciplinary initiatives with Kunsthall Trondheim (Pieces of Peace & Fire! 2019; Hidden Waves 2022). Furthermore, he directed the PØKK concert series (2010–2014) and served on the board of nyMusikk Trondheim (2014–2024), presiding as Board Chair from 2021 to 2024.

His current artistic focus investigates early digital technology and algorithmic composition, specifically the integration of vintage guitar synthesizers and legacy computing systems (Amiga 500, Macintosh Plus, Atari ST) within a contemporary musical framework.
